Frequently Asked Questions

For weddings, how many breaks does the band usually take during the reception?

There really is no set answer for this. We’re here to build the day around you and what you envision. Most commonly, the band will be playing as your guests enter the reception room, through bridal party introductions, first dance and special dances, and will continue to play through dinner. Once all of your guests have been served, the band will typically take a short dinner break, usually fifteen minutes long. After dinner, typically the band will play two sets with a short break in between, but it doesn’t really feel like a break, because that is where our MC will have you cut the cake, and where you would toss the bouquet and garter if desired. Some couples like to pause here and give a heartfelt thank you over the microphone to parents, friends and family. By the time this is all over, it has been 15-20 minutes and we crank up the party with the band again. But it’s different for every couple. Some couples want 30 minutes of DJ/club music, some want a fun activity like the “shoe game,” and some couples say let’s cut the cake and get right back to the party! We’re here to help make it all happen smoothly.

How do Goody Blue Shoes members dress for formal affairs?

Our standard formal attire is a sleek and modern black on black tuxedo with a blue necktie for the men, and the lady will dress to match the event’s formality. If desired, you can upgrade to a tie or tie/vest color scheme to match your wedding’s or event’s color palette.

How much space does Goody Blue Shoes require?

Our goal is to be as flexible as possible with space, but with nine performers and a sound engineer it is important to have a minimum of 200 square feet. For the best presentation of the band for your event, we suggest a 12-24 inch raised stage of 24′ x 12′.

Our event coordinator John LaPalomento will be happy to work out the best solution for all parties with the coordinator at the venue prior to your event.

How far in advance should we book Goody Blue Shoes?

Most commonly, weddings and gala events will be booked between six and eighteen months ahead of the event date, however there is no cut off date. If the band is available for a date, we’re all yours.

How far will Goody Blue Shoes travel for our event?

If you want GBS to be part of your event, then we want to be there. Simply put, we can go anywhere! We will travel up to 60 miles from 08056 for no extra cost, including Philadelphia and its suburbs, all of South and Central NJ and Jersey shore points, and all of Northern Delaware. Feel free to reach out to us to discuss your location.

Do you offer any upgrades to help us set our wedding or event apart?

We do! Completely customize your wedding in a number of different ways, including:

Music Upgrades such as ceremony enhancements (trumpet, additional vocalists, harp, string quartet, etc.) and cocktail hour enhancements (3, 4, or 5 piece jazz combos, acoustic duo, harp, string quartet, etc.)

Clothing and Color Upgrades such as vests, ties, and pocket squares to match your color scheme, and other wardrobe adjustments.

Lighting Upgrades such as dance floor laser light shows, enhanced stage lighting, ambient ballroom lighting and uplighting, custom GOBO monogram lighting, and more.

Be sure to discuss options with event coordinator John LaPalomento during any consultation.

Is Goody Blue Shoes Party Band insured?

Yes, GBS is insured. Many of the region’s top venues require insurance for performers, and we are happy to comply. We carry $1,000,000 of commercial general liability insurance and can provide certificates upon request.
